Programs

A weekly rhythm
built for Wall Street.

Three nights a week, members rotate through the curricula that make up the Phoenician Investment Fund — plus a network of recruiting infrastructure that runs all year.

Mondays · 6:00 PM
Capital Markets

Market Mondays

Weekly deep dives on ECM, DCM, Lev Fin, rates, and credit. Members learn how companies actually raise capital — and develop conviction on the cross-asset macro picture.

What members learn

  • Equity capital markets — IPOs, follow-ons, block trades, and PIPEs
  • Debt capital markets — investment grade, high yield, and structured products
  • Leveraged finance — sponsor mechanics, term loans, and high-yield bonds
  • Rates and credit — the Fed, the curve, and the basis
  • FX and macro — reading the cross-asset tape

Sample topics

Klarna's IPO mechanics · Cracking the SOFR curve · The Fed's QT exit path · CLO 101 · Reading the credit calendar · Equity-linked structured products

Tuesdays · 6:00 PM
Investment Banking

Transaction Tuesdays

The technical concepts that bulge brackets and elite boutiques actually test for — taught the way they're asked in interviews, not the way they're built in Excel.

What members learn

  • Enterprise value vs. equity value — the bridge, the pitfalls, and how to walk it
  • How the three financial statements connect and flow into one another
  • Discounted cash flow — WACC, terminal value, and how to defend your assumptions
  • Leveraged buyouts — the framework, the drivers of returns, and why sponsors care
  • Accretion/dilution — why deals accrete or dilute in stock, cash, and mixed consideration
  • Valuation multiples — when to use EV/EBITDA vs. P/E vs. EV/Sales, and why
  • Comparable companies and precedent transactions
  • Beta, cost of equity, and the capital structure decision
  • Working capital, deferred revenue, and the GAAP quirks that trip candidates up
  • Industry talks with active bankers from across the Street

Sample topics

Walk me through a DCF · Why would two companies with identical financials trade at different multiples · Why does an all-stock deal dilute the acquirer · How does depreciation flow through the three statements · When would you use a levered vs. unlevered DCF

Wednesdays · 6:00 PM
Stock Pitch Teams

Alternative Investment Wednesdays

Long/short equity teams source, model, and pitch original investment ideas. Every member ships at least one institutional-quality pitch per semester.

What members learn

  • Sourcing — finding non-consensus ideas in over-covered markets
  • Variant perception — articulating what you see that the Street doesn't
  • Modeling — building a defensible base, bull, and bear case
  • Catalysts and risks — what makes the thesis work or break
  • Pitch craft — writing it, deck it, and defend it under hostile questioning
  • Distress and reorganizations — how capital structures break and what happens next

Sample topics

Long pitch on a margin-inflecting consumer brand · Short pitch on a structurally challenged ad-tech name · Distress case study on a recent Chapter 11 · Restructuring 101

Member development

The infrastructure
around the curriculum.

Three weekly programs do the teaching. Five standing initiatives do the recruiting, mentoring, and bonding — running every week of every semester.

01

Partnership Program

We maintain direct relationships with recruiters and alumni at the firms our members target. Stand-out members are featured in recruitment booklets distributed to firms throughout the year.

02

Mentorship Pods

Every member is paired with a senior mentor based on professional goals. One-on-one networking training, LinkedIn review, resume and cover letter critiques, mock interviews, and curriculum support.

03

Industry Speaker Series

Active alumni, private equity headhunters, and recruiters from across the Street come to PIF to share insights on career paths, market dynamics, and recruiting strategy.

04

National Competitions

Top-performing members are sponsored to compete at the highest level — the National Investment Banking Competition, the Raymond James SMF, the CFA Institute Equity Research Challenge, the Michigan Undergraduate Stock Pitch, and more.

05

Socials

End-of-semester alumni socials, BBQs, and events at exclusive venues in Coral Gables and Brickell. Members build a network of equally driven peers — the kind that turns into deal flow ten years out.
